About Me

Hey there, welcome to my blog!

I’m Allyson, your typical southern gal!  I was born and raised in North Carolina, graduated from High Point University with a degree in Interior Design, and was on the typical career path until last year. You see, God had bigger plans for my life than a career in design.  He called me to the international mission field in Haiti, where I lived for two months.  When I returned home for Christmas, my plan to live in Haiti for the year got disrupted.  I  found out I needed back surgery and had a less than typical recovery time. I'm now back at home working and carrying on with life as usual.  I learned that my time on the mission field was less about the length of the commitment, and more about the willingness to say yes to God and surrender it all!  I love Haiti, and missions will ALWAYS be a part of my life, but right now my mission field is here in Durham, NC and I'm perfectly content with that.  I'm picking up my career dreams again and seeking God's direction through it all.  He has a plan, I'm just along for the ride!

A little bit about myself:  I love my family, my friends, my dog, and most importantly Jesus Christ!!  My family and friends mean the world to me.  They are my supporters, encouragers, source of laughter, and occasionally my slap back to reality.  They are the reason I am who I am today.  I love them all for so many reasons!

I also love my sweet dog, coconut.  If you haven’t read my blog or seen my Instagram yet, you will soon come to know that this little puppy is usually the highlight of my day!  He is spoiled rotten and loved oh so much!

But most importantly, I have a deep and undying love for missions.  I love working with the people of Haiti.  Their culture is like none other, and it is a true blessing to be a small part of their lives.

So sit back, stay a while, and enjoy reading all of the ups, downs, and in betweens of my life. I hold nothing back, as this is my personal journal and reflection time.  I promise to be true to myself  and share every aspect of this journey.  Be sure to explore the blog; there are lots of great things waiting.

God bless,
Allyson
